Hey Burt, thanks for the response.
The heads ARE cracking in the same spots. If I remember correctly, all three heads have had cracks between both exhaust valves, on the bottom of the head, for either the 3rd of 4th cylinder.
I am using the SAAB specified torquing procedures, working in a spiral from the inside, out.
No, I am not using a 90 degree meter. When I get to that stage I allow my mechanic friend to do the 90 degree final torque (he's been working on 900s and 9000s for over 20 years).
No, I have not been using new head bolts...but I will this time around.
I am not sure how MUCH the head was decked each time but the work was done seemingly well by the same machine shop my mechanic trusts for his work.
I am located in NYC and my friend's shop is in North-Western NJ, where the engine he is offering me is. Where in CT are you, if you don't mind my asking? An Aero engine 50k miles younger certainly is tempting. Is the turbo included? How much would you want to get for it, with or without the TD04 turbo?
Thanks!
