I have a car with a bad motor, and one with a bad auto tranny, and will be removing the good motor to put into the car with the bad motor. I've pulled a tranny out the top (don't recommend it at all), the followed it with the motor, pulled an auto tranny out the side, then the motor out the top, and for the last "which procedure do I prefer?" method, I wanted to just drop the whole assembly and see how that worked. For the car getting the new motor, I'll do that "by the book", by removing the trans out the side then pick the motor and reverse the process. I do have a lift, but its a 4 post. It has its pros and cons....
I've got a big laundry list of stuff to do in the next 2 months; finish stripping the '93 Aero, do this motor swap then do 2 tranny swaps on a pair of '88 SPG's. I'll be busy.
