Not sure if this is the same issue that i have seen some others ask about on here. I have seen some similar posts, but nothing quite describes my problem.
My '94 9000cs non-turbo has developed a stutter that ONLY occurs at the narrow rpm range of 1600-1700. Most noticeable when climbing steep hills, feels as though the engine is "surging": power comes and goes in about 1 sec surges while accelerating past about 1700 rpm. What confuses me about this situation is that the surges happen in any gear and at any level of throttle. Even coasting down hills while in gear will produce the surges if the engine dips down into that range.
My immediate suspicion would be the spark, though im not sure where to check from there. Have yet to check condition of sparkplugs and/or di cassette, but then again my past experience with failing di cassettes makes me think the problem resides elsewhere. Anybody seen similar problems that are directly tied to narrow rpm ranges?
thanks in advance guys.
