...My 4 year old helped me today with a lot of this stuff. He was fascinated, stayed interested and actually helped. He even helped put tools away. It was a great bonding experience.
There were also smaller victories. The O2 sensor came out easily with just a crappy split type socket O2 sensor puller. I was certain it would be stuck like cement. On close inspection the turbo is fine. Sure it is a crappy Garrett T-3, but so what? My entire exhaust setup is newish and unrusted.
My big problem will be that the front and bottom most exhaust manifold bolt is sheared off about 3mm inside the head. I will endeavor to drill out and helicoil using the exhaust manifold as a drill guide. I will need to find where the Hell I can buy a left cutting drill bit. I think I will forget about extraction as with bolts this small the extractors typically shear off and you are left with a super hard substance to drill through.
