...it's an easy part to identify. Mounted on the false firewall, vacuum line runs to it, first passing through the circular, two-colored plastic check valve. A short (one inch or so) section of vacuum line comes out the other side, as well -- this is correct (it doesn't connect to anything on that side, but rather releases to the atmosphere).
Over time, as the safety valves get tired, they draw too much power, if I understand things right. They overheat, and that causes LHM to kick in. Others on this board can speak much more to the specifics around electrical schtuff than I can, but in any event, swapping this unit out is really easy. And before you buy a new one, try swapping it with the cruise control safety valve mounted on the top of the driver's side wheel well (left-hand-drive cars). It's identical to the TCS safety valve, other than the mounting bracket. If your LHM goes away by swapping out the cruise control valve, order thyself a new safety valve from someplace like eEuro.
