ABS hydraulic unit failure - HELP!

NO FLUID REACHING REAR BRAKES AFTER ABS UNIT REPLACEMENT.
Troubleshooting ideas needed please.
On my 88 9000S, started having regular severe brake fluid loss but could not find the leak. Finally located crack in pump housing that only leaked when pump was on and had finished pressurizing the accumulator but kept running, spraying fluid all over. A pressure crack apparently, maybe caused by the pressure switch not cutting off the pump and leading to too high an internal pressure.
Obtained 92 9000 ABS hydraulic unit as replacement for $250 thinking this was a better plan than the much older and higher mileage 88 and 89 available. I already replaced the ABS hydraulic unit two years before with a used 88 unit. I checked the Saab ABS service manual and believed I could use a 92 unit. One of the 88 ABS system connector cables does not reach the corresponding 92 plug because of a physiscal layout change on the 92 unit. Yesterday I lengthened this cable and installed the unit. On initial test the unit properly pressurized the accumulator and cut off appropriately. I then bled the brakes. Front pair OK. Back pair - NO FLUID AT ALL.
Road tested the car and found it stops OK if kept at in-town speeds. No fluid leak now.
Any good ideas on how to check out the rear brake fluid blockage?
