1987 9000 Turbo. Same car I just did the head gasket on.
Car had some vacuum leaks, but I thought I got them all (maybe not). I also cleaned out the AMM with carb cleaner. Filaments look OK. I also cleaned out the idle control valve with carb cleaner. The inner valve moves freely.
When I first start the car, it is sometimes a hard start. If she starts and stalls, she is a harder start. Sometimes I need to give her gas as I start and she kinda revs but if I let off the starter she dies. After 30 seconds, she seems to hunt for idle, speeding up and almost stalling and then speeding up several times, (each time a bit less). Finally at 60 seconds she hits idle and stays there, but if I rev she has some trouble returning to idle. At about 80 seconds she is OK to rev up and has no trouble finding and holding idle.
I don't see any vacuum leaks, but there might be one as the turbo guage is not working. How in the heck can I get to the back of that guage to see if she is plugged in? Which under the hood line goes to the turbo? That way I might clamp it and see if the problem dies up.
Also, what else might it be? Grommets all seem to be good. Hoses all seem to be crack free (aside from turbo guage not working). I have exhausted my patience after checking and rechecking everything.
Thanks in advance,
C
