Yaofeng mentioned that sludge or debris may be blocking oil passages. Change the sensor, flush the system with GUNK oil flush, and use an oil like Mobile 1 that will eat through deposits. Mobil 1 might make your engine leak according to some (I ave never seen it), but it should also eat through (hopefully) any blockages.

If the process of sludge is really there you might be in for a rough ride.

That being said, my buddy who is a Saab mechanic for 20 years said recently that he had NEVER seen a 9000 short block go bad under routine conditions. Heads yes, but never a short block.
