on my beloved aero.

i had been hearing a clicking rattly noise ofver bumps for a while, went thru toolbox etc and couldn't make it go away. took back tire off, started swearing. stuck my finger right thru the metal around where the rear shock attaches.

pulled it all apart and brought it to my friend's shop (i used to work there) and had it welded.

discovered that it is LOTS easier and quicker to remove everything in the rear luggage area (hatchback) than to try and do the speakers the 'quick, easy' way. took less than an hour to have the whole back of the car down to metal, including changing the speakers on the bench, with power tools, rather than an hour and a half to change one, plus bonus backache, cut up forearms, and new inventive curses.

so yeah, it sucks when rust attacks, but a good shop should be able to fab enough new metal in there to make it good as new, just about.
