...and remind them that things break inside of cars too. Things don't just break on the outside. Remind them that you are being nice now, but they will lose moneys for a lawyer and then lose the suit in small claims. Remind them that seats do break in crashes, that seats in the USA and Europe have been specially strengthenned due to rear ending accidents (but they still break despite the fixes), and the insurance company refusal just documents on paper their unfounded position.
Do a goole search on seat failure and rear end collisions. Do another on seat failure and child death due to rear end collisions, as parents' seats collapse backwards onto their kids, killing the kids (my kids do not sit behind me in my SUV). Ask how it is they are denying rear end hits cause seat failure when such a volume of evidence exists. Ask how it is they are placing your kids at risk by refusing to fix or replace this seat that their client broke.
Search this BB for seat repair after the adjuster sees the car. You may OR MAY NOT be able to use this repair. I am not sure what exactly is wrong with your car, but I wonder if it is a variation of classic Saab seat failure.
The classic Saab seat failure repair is usually easy, and involves placement of a stiff rubber tube over the broken plastic tube that houses the seat moving mechanism.
