A bad bearing usually sounds like a scraping. Pull the inlet hose off the turbo and spin the turbo, feeling for play and or roughness.
I'm going to guess that the problem ISN'T the turbo. The sound you describe doesn't sound like a bad bearing. It does sound like a resonance set up in the inlet hoses. I'd make sure the air filter is clean and the right type (and in the right way!). I'd also check all air hoses and the hooter valve. A resonance like that would interfere with airflow, which could impact performance.
I'd make sure all the hoses are right, all clamps tight, all the intake, including the intercooler, is OK. That's where I think the problem is.
