WE've had three kids in infant car seats in 9000s. As well, when my wife was expecting our third, in her ninth month, she was hit in the driver's door by a car going around 50 mph. She crawled out the passenger side door and cried only because she new I loved that car... (made me feel like a real schmuk). Anyway, she was completely fine and our nicest kid yet was born a week and a half later. I rebuilt the car and drove it for another 2 years. just sold it to the guy I bought it from, actually.
We always had the infant seat on the side until the third child and at that point, with the need to actually buckle and unbuckle the kids in teh booster seats, we moved the infant seat to the middle. We had one of those seats that detatched from the base making it really easy to know the set-up was secure. It gets heavy to lug the chair with kid to the middle.
