I'd spend some time under the hood with the engine running and listening for a vacuum leak. Sorry didn't realize you were Aussie, any good injector cleaner, or some actually pull off the cover for the throttle body and spray carb cleaner right on the throttle body. It seems to even out some cases of rough running. I like to run injector cleaner at least once a year to clean out the system. I'd like to think that the fuel has enough detergents, but don't really trust anyone anymore.
It would be nice to try someone else's DI, but if you are planning on keeping the car for a long time, then having a spare DI is a good idea anyway. Worth finding a good price on one now rather than buying one in desparation later. The other two options only cost a few or no bucks, so I'd do those first.
