Oil pressure problem with 93 CSE Turbo

I am experiencing the typical problems of low oil pressure seen many time on this BB. At start up it seems as though the pump is cavitating and not grabbing any oil. Once I get the revs up so that the pump is primed and pushing oil, light goes out and engine is quiet. Also flickers at stop when warm.
Took oil pressure relief valve apart and found piston stuck in bore. After removing scratches and burrs reassembled and still have problem. Changed oil pressure sender with no results, I believe the pressure to be low because of engine sound when starting up with low pressure. When starting there is a long delay until the pump starts pressurizing. Once up to pressure engine runs fine. Pressure is ok at speed so I do not think it it a intake screen problem. Seems more like a air leak in the intake tube if such a thing is possible.
The only thing I can find out of place is the condition of the pressure relief valve. I cannot locate replacement parts from the dealer for another 3 weeks as they must come froim Sweeden. Can the spring be streched to exact more compression on the plunger? Also what makes up the sealing face of the valve? The plunger is just a flat face, is there more to this valve than I can find wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
