Hey! Don't feel bad about not starting with the basic! Saab are an expensive car to maintain so, when something goes wrong its only normal for the mind to think its something major. Took me awhile, sometime in twenty- some years of working on my own car to always check with the basics first. Your fuse could have been a power surge or just a fuse connection that had lost a good contact. I remember all the old air-cooled VWs that I have had where notorious for bad contact with there fuses. That's why they where coned shaped on each end so you could spin them occasionally to maintain contact. Your SAAB fuse are inserted once and thats it, until you replace them. At least once a year I try to pull them all out one at a time and reinsert them. The A/C compessor is a big consumer of power and can heat up the electrical system a little more than say, an interior light. At least you know the fuse is doing its job! Just run the car and enjoy the A/C. . If you want, "unplug and reconnect" all the A/C -plugs/ relays/ wire connectors For a renewed contact, or just drive and post again if problem returns. "Check The Basics" You weren't being Stupid, you just started to worry and forgot the basic check list!
