So I've had this 1994 9000 Aero about 17 months and it's a blast. Family name is "A1" cause it's the first A ero we have. Got another and it's A2 and both are black. Gave this one to the wife, she's happy so I am happy. Married guys completely understand this! Everything on this car works. Period.
So the radio antenna was acting funny, sometimes antenna would work, sometimes won't extend. Radio not happy without the antenna extended. So I did the normal check, lube and it works. For awhile. then it stops again. I put it on the "upgripe" list, I had scored an entire antenna unit from a 1995 9000CSE and had it on the shelf. So today we do the Sunday thing, wash the cars, wax one, check air and fluids, empty the trash tray (no smokers so we use it as a trash box). Then I remembered the antenna on the upgripe list...
So we open the hatch, pull the liner out and down, take the four torx out of the bar at the bottom of the hatch to allow more liner movement... and discover that the hot lead to the motor of the antenna, which has *locking* clip on it... was completely off the connector. A quick clip into place and all is good. How did that happen? I mean it's a *locking* connector. It clipped into place very securely...
It could happen to you too...
