93 Aero throttle body ANXIETY

Hi,
I have a dreaded/beloved 1993 Aero, standard, 170k mi.
Had the throttle body replaced 3 years ago after recurrent LHM ugliness with a rebuilt one from Ultima by my wonderful Saab tech. It was a good deal but not exactly cheap.
Now the car is back in LHM, took it back to same shop, he says he doesn't want to replace the throttle body again, thinks that he might be able to clean it and get it going again. He also said that the guy who used to do the rebuilt TBs is gone and he has no source for used ones any longer. I'm thinking that if he can clean my throttle body and get it functioning, I'm going to be very happy, and if he can't, I'm going to consider getting rid of the car, because putting a brand new TB in at this point would be prohibitivly expensive (I am guessing).
What do you suppose the odds of things working out are? What do you recommend I do if he can't clean the TB? Does anyone know a source for rebuilt TBs out there? Any advice??? Thanks for your help in advance,
A
