yes, 9000's do have CV joints, but in my experience cv joints are usually quiet in a straight line and make loud clicking noises when wheels are turned.
If it were me i would jack up that side of the car and check the wheel bearing (place hands at 12 and 6 o'clock and try to wobble the wheel, if theres play, the wheel bearing is stuffed)
If the bearing is ok pull the wheel off and look around for anything that looks stuffed.
If theres grease everywhere then your CV boot is probably stuffed, but that doesnt mean the CV joint is neccessarily stuffed aswell, i drove my 9000 with torn CV boots for a good 6months before the CV's started making noises.
If your CV joint needs replacing they are not hard to do if you have moderate DIY skills, i can tell you how to do it if it turns out they need replacing, or there are tutorials around that have pictures and stuff.
