Saturday afternoon wife called me her 94cs was smoking. It got so bad people were hongking at her and she had to stop at a 7-11. Later she managed to take it home when the smoke seems to subside a little. My first reaction was the turbocharger is probably gone.
Sunday morning I took the 94cs around the block to check it out. During startup I was expecting blue smoke to come out of the exhaust. Nothing. Everything was fine. At wife's insistance, I took the car out an hour later to do a five mile run. Mid-way on the run the coolant level message came up. That's not serious I thought. Maybe I needed to add some to the reservoir. Still there is no indication. Pulled up in the driveway. Opened the hood. I saw a stream of coolant pissing up in a pin hole out of the hose from the water pump to the radiator. Bingo! If I had run it longer, the stream of coolant could have easily reached the turbocharger to create a white smoke screen. I then asked my wife if the smoke was blue or white. Naturally it was white.
20 minutes and a new hose after the 94cs was fully cooled, the car was back up running.
