Hear hear,
A guy at work (who had recently bought a brand new BMW 5 series) was gloating at me a few weeks ago when I was reeling from the shock of £650 worth of work I had done on the car by smugly saying "that's why I bought the beamer, so I don't get scary surprise like that".
You should have seen the smug grin dissappear when I pointed out that
a) The car cost me £750
b) Aside from the initial sort out I give to any "new to me" Saab, ie replace all fluids, idler and tensioner pulley replacement with new belt and general ancilliaries Spark plugs etc - just over £100ish, this is all I've spent for 18 months of comfortable, fast motoring.
c) I asked him to tot up his monthly repayments he'd paid so far on his 6 month old beamer and it was more than mine - project his cost over the next three years compared to mine - I rest my case!
Now who's smug? :-)
