Coolant dissapearing

1991 CD na

poking around yesterday doing routine fluid checks and came upon an empty coolant reservoir. Head gasket replacement two weeks ago went well (or at least I think it did) and included a thermostat, new bolts (torqued to spec w/ 90-degree final), two full system flushes, and nice new antifreeze. Cleaned the head and block surface meticulously and checked and tightened all the hoses; radiator plug is new and tight, and no leaks present at the water pump. Coolant level sensor is broken, so I don't how long the tank was empty. I've been topping off every few days, but I do quick level checks before I journey anywhere. Even with an empty reservoir, engine temp gauge stayed around between 1/3 and 1/2 with a running fan during our steaming 95-degree afternoons.

no new stains on the driveway and no puddles in the engine bay. any ideas where this coolant could have gone?
