...unless Mother-In-Law wants me to take her for a drive (ah yes, it gets funnier every time I tell that one doesn't it?)
Well, hum from pump has stopped, yeehaa! and the fuel gauge showed the same as the previous gauge, so I didn't manage to bend the sender float either. However, I noticed a slight fuel odour from the car when I got back in it after a couple of hours, I'm hoping it's the old pump I've loaded up in the boot as a spare, I'll have to park that in the shed for a while to let the fuel evaporate. If the smell doesn't go away I'll have to replace the O ring after all, heyho.
I decided against changing the fuel filter right away, as I'll probably try and run the tank dry first as despite my care, I'm bound to have dropped some stuff in the hole and stirred up the residue in my tank anyway, so best to let the old filter catch that stuff first, rather than contaminate the new filter I've bought straight away.
Thanks for the thanks and I hope someone finds it useful.
Kind regards
Andy (West London)
