My newly acquired 97 Anniversary had a heavily faded hood emblem, so I swapped it over from my spares car which was perfect.
I too found the comment re dental floss but didn't find it helped much.
The emblem is held on by two prongs that form part of the aluminium badge, that poke into the hood itself, placed East and West of the badge as you look at it and they are right on the centre line.
I found the best way was firstly to wash the area around the badge throughly with an old toothbrush.
Then using the thinnest screwdriver I could find (one from a precision / jewellers screw driver set worked for me)I placed a piece of stiff card against the very front edge of the badge to protect my paintwork and worked the thin screwdriver under the front of the badge until it lifted slightly.
As the prongs are East and West, if you just lever the badge straight up it might break the prongs, so as the badge lifts, push the cardboard and screwdriver further under the badge until you can get enough leverage to ease the badge straight up out of its holes.
You'll be amazed how much crud is under the badge so go at it with the toothbrush and soapy water again until it is all clean. (If a detailing freak like me you might want to polish and wax the area while you're at it as it only takes a second). Also unless you have a brand new emblam, now would be the time to give the replacement a good clean, particularly round the edge of the rim where it will meet the paintwork as you'll never have as good access again.
Then simply insert the new badge into the hole and push it down into place. I imagine new badges come with some sort of adhesive tape to hold them in place but I just used one of those double sided sticky strips you can buy to attach mirrors.
The dental floss routine didn't work for me as the badge is slightly indented so I found it impossible to get an angle where the floss would go under the badge. My only thought is that those folk who suggested it meant that once you've lifted the badge a wee bit, you can use the floss to cut through the adhesive tape that hold the badge in place maybe?
As ever with such things, much longer to explain than to do, so if I had to change one today, it would take about 3 minutes, including the toothbrushing and polishing.
Kind regards
Andy (West London)
