In a quandry. Upgrade from '88 9K to '04 Aero? (long)

I knew that this day would come eventually, but the emotional ties I have to this car is ridiculous. I picked it up from the dealer with my dad back in 1988 when I was like 11 years old. He handed it off to me when I graduated college in '99. I've been driving it exclusively since, and have taken good care of it.
I've had a couple concerns about it lately. Two bolts of the front wheel sheared and tore the other two out of the hub, so a front wheel departure leaving me stranded 6 hours from home. In addition to the new hub and bearing, I had to do that trip twice to get my car.
I got stuck last year when my idler pulley quit 3 hours from home. Same story.
I have a lot of newer components on there- but I'm still sitting on bad motor mounts and torque rod bushings, a really leaky power steering rack, and a few other electrical annoyances, mainly dealing with the acc and the fuel feeder pump.
As things are, I'm kind of wondering what will quit next, and wondering when it's time to let this one go. Sad, I know. But I found a really nice 2004 aero wagon for under $20k.
Any insight here? I'm really torn!
