If you are comfortable doing this you can............
Take plastic grill off. Put masking tape around your vise grip jaws (to protect paint). Gently bend metal around the hood-latch area up in many small increments until it approaches the clearance height of the curved portion above the curved fan housing. Some of my paint flaked off due to stress but I have touch-up paint kit and repainted everything afterwards.
I rotated and wiggled the dead fan out and rotated and wiggled the new one in. I tested first then gently bent metal back down. I checked hood-lock allignment and figured I saved 5-6 hours of labor. One would have to look closely to see that this hasty technique was used.
Thank you to Aaron - one of the few Miami 9000 owners for selling me a used fan. It is really hot down here and the A/C keeps me very comfortable coupled with the fairly dark tint on the windows.
Good uck with this shade-tree technique. Remember to repaint to protect area against future rust!
