the main reason to not use chrome sockets with an impact wrench is so the flaking chrome doesn't embed itself in your other hand.
for me at least, steady pressure breaks stuff and hurts my hands when they slam into things. think ninja. get the wrench set, take the slack out, then give it a good sharp pop. think thru it, and it'll go.
i have never broken a socket with an impact wrench, only with along pipe on a regular wrench.
