The LH controller is actually a computer, and the operating program is written into special memory (EEPROM) that doesn't forget when the power is turned off. When the computer first turns on, it does some special checks to see if the contents of the memory are correct - nothing was forgotten or corrupted. A memory check fail means that it detected that the memory has somehow been corrupted. It might be something important, or not.
The easiest solution to a bad memory issue is to replace the ECU. I don't usually say to change the ECU, but a memory fault is an ECU problem. However, clear all the faults and see if it comes back reliably - if so, you can't trust anything else the box is doing.
