ABS light getting you down. Failing Inspection?

So my ABS light has been on for years. Too expensive to fix for such an old car. 1993 9000 with 400 k km on it. Anyway, took it in the other day for inspection and to my surprise the rules have changed here now, they need to see the light turn off. So simple fix.
In short, I wired the abs light to the gas light. It turns on then off with initial key on. Mind you, when i'm low on gas the abs light comes on too, but who cares.
It's a real simple fix, and can be done without removing the cluster, just the dash top. The black connector on the passenger side of the cluster is the only one you need to change. All you have to do is cut the wire for the abs light ( I think it's number 8 .... i'll double check later, so don't take my word on it right now! ). Make sure you cut it so there is still about 3 inches left coming from the connector. Next, strip the end. Pop open the connecter and attach to the gas light. ( which i think is number 5 - again, i'll double check). Done.
Now if you actually take everything out to look at things a little closer, note that if you only plug in the circuit board for the light on that side, you will not get the gas light to come on, it requires the back ecu component of the console to be plugged in too.
anyway, hope that helps someone else sometime... abs is just too expensive to fix in such and old car. i couldn't sell it for what it cost to fix.
