missing exhaust support ?!? Posted by bmacb [Email] (#684) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bmacb) on Mon, 3 Sep 2007 13:41:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had my 97 9000 inspected the other day and it was failed because mechanic claimed it was missing an exhaust support. He showed me two "arms" that looked similar to those that hold the rubber hangars at the tail end of the exhaust. These "arms" are located on either side of the exhaust in between the catalytic converter and the flex pipe. He said that there was supposed to be some bar that supported the exhaust that ran between these arms (presumably supported by rubber hangars) I looked on my 91 9000 and I do in fact see an exhaust support in roughly that location. However on my 97 I see no evidence that there ever was such support.
I think the mechanic is mistaken.
Is there supposed to some sort of support (running horizontally underneath the exhaust) just in front of the junction of the flex pipe and the cat?
I am not referring to the bar that runs vertically up from the cat itself.
Any suggestions are apprectiated
