"It's not necessary to disconnect the battery when diagnosing TCS or when replacing throttle bodies."
I saw the ETS module turn itself off when it was in limp home mode - Pin 13 is "Main Relay Control Circuit" and the description is "Pin is internally grounded if ETS system is not in limp-home mode". At start up when in limp home mode that pin stays low about five seconds and then goes high, thus turning off the power to itself. I think you had an ISAT - did you need to do anything special when in limp-home mode? That's why I mention that the battery wasn't disconnected. Once I disconnect the battery the ETS forgets it is in trouble and doesn't turn itself off. So I think if it had power cut to it, and then the throttle body was replaced, that they would have been able to connect to it to clear out any adaptation and re-cal it.
Anyway, the car is running fine now. I drove it long enough with the other throttle body to think it is too much of a coincidence that it came back to life with the new throttle body. Now that it is out of limp home mode I'll bet it can be calibrated. I'll find out soon.
