Locking problem (somewhat long)

A few weeks ago my battery went fully dead - because the trunk light was on and I had not driven my '97 9K CSE for about 4 weeks.

I tried to jump start it w/ my '98 9K - but it didn't help and I had to go call the emergency road service folks; the mechanic placed a booster pack in addition to connecting the battery w/ jumper cables to my 98 9k. The car then started and the battery seems to have got charged.

However, after this incident, neither my remote no my central locking (the "lock" button near the transmission lever) system locks the doors. I have to push down each one manually, except the driver side lock which locks using the key.

I looked up the fuse box on the passenger side and found that Fuse #16 had blown. I replaced that fuse with another fuse of the 15A rating and that one blew as well. What am I missing - what else should I try before taking it over to the mechanic/dealership?

As I looked through the SAAB manual - I discover that it says one should never use booster batteries as they can cause irreparable and serious damage to the electronics...most other electronics in my car seems to work fine...except for the door locks. In fact that fuel door did not open and I used the latch from the inside of the trunk to open it up.

Any thoughts, advise would be much appreciated. Thanks!
