Careful with the hose connection to the condenser Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Fri, 14 Sep 2007 08:37:44 In Reply to: have them now ........., Bruce A, Thu, 13 Sep 2007 19:41:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This sounds like your first try with AC hoses, so I caution you to be careful with the connection to the condenser, as it tends to get very corroded (heat and a bi-metalic junction); brute force removal of the connector then strips the threads off of the condenser requiring a replacement. Some here including Anders (Swedecar) have suggested carefully cutting through the connector with a fine Dremel tool wheel - do a search for this - stopping before the threaded connection.
In general, there is a limited amount that can be DIY on AC systems, but replacing hoses should be possible. Recharging the system without a vacuum pump is not DIY.
