I had same problem. I tried to adjust to no avail. I thought that I was going to have to replace the rear calipers but after talking to a guy at a local parts store, he suggested that I just drive the car for awhile and that driving in reverse may help. Sure enough the Emergency Brake function eventually came back. Adjust the brake to the appropriate setting with the feeler gauge and just drive.
