Re: Please explain "heat soak" Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Please explain "heat soak", Bill Homer ![]() |
I'd like to know specifically what Craig meant as well.
I have searched for "Heat Soak" and volvo and it is like searching for
"sore knee" - there are many 1000's of explanations which all seem to
point in different directions, the largest number of which seemingly
about the intercoolers and electronic controls/sensors being less than
adequate to prevent damaging conditions in certain situations.
On a related note:
A friend bought an 850 wagon from a mechanic at a Volvo dealer and I
was invited along for the closing of the deal; it had been his own
daily driver and he replaced it with a fixer-upper to fix & sell next.
He commented to me upon all the models newer than the 850 and in his
own words (because I was admiring the Volvo 'Aero wannabe' sedan...)
he said to 'keep the h*ll away from the newer ones because they're
nothing more than maintenance nightmares to keep on the road at all.'
That was enough for me !
Maybe they'll fix 'em up by the time I can no longer find a good 9KT
around....
Best Wishes Craig, with your new ride !!!
