My Thanks to you Brian for confirming the #20 fuse is only for the
compressor/extra fan, I pulled that one and I have my temporary
fix as I needed.
Marvin, I am no stranger to working on my car, and in other cars
it has been best to pull the clutch lead - but as I posted at the
start:
'I don't want to pull the a/c clutch power lead apart and it would
be best to have it easily reversible from inside the cabin.'
I must confess I am still in awe of your brilliant solution for
worn out mounts and have used it to great satisfaction - but this
situation demanded a different solution than what you suggested.

and proposing answers to my dumb question !
