Oh, so it's really struggling if it compares badly to the Nissan! Certainly don't think you're being dumb, it's puzzling when things don't run right.
Trouble is there are so many things that could be holding it back. Could be a clogged catalytic converter, or poor fuel pressure - we could all chime in with something. And it might be more than one thing anyway. I'm just not clear whether you suspect the engine or the transmission.
The ABS shouldn't affect performance (and may be quite easy to fix when you get round to it).
I've never had a car with TCS but always understood it would affect engine behaviour if not working correctly - isn't that right? Have never experienced the famous "limp home mode" but what you describe doesn't sound like that either. Also, I've never had a V6.
On the fluid level - 17 words and sounds good to me! But if the transmission really is slipping, and you already changed the fluid, that's not a good sign long-term.
Owning a Saab can be a bit like "owning" a dog - it's a moot point as to who's owning whom.
