Vacuum-operated Cruise Control? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Vacuum lines in the dash, Broken_Aero, Fri, 12 Oct 2007 08:30:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's helpful to know what year car you have, but I can guess. The small pump in the "aquarium" behind the MAP sensor is a vacuum pump used for cruise control on pre-1995 cars (my 1994 has this setup, 1995 cars have an electronic control). Hoses go under the dash and to some sort of solenoid/vacuum-controlled device that attaches to the throttle. This has nothing to do with the turbo plumbing!!!
The hose connected to the Blow-Off Valve (BOV) and the hose for the gauge each connect to two legs of a "Y" connector hanging slightly below the throttle body; the third side of this attaches to the intake manifold - it's pretty straightforward. To add an additional gauge, people insert a "T" or "Y" fitting in the hose that goes to the gauge.
