AMM - Air Mass Meter. Also known as MAF (Mass Air Flow) That is the cylindrical sensor in the big hose going to the intake. It measures airflow and schedules fuel.

The '86 doesn't have built-in diagnostics, so no codes to read out. Sorry - I only just noticed the lead off '1986' in the title. The good news is that your AMM is probably OK - the only thing that turns on the CEL in an '86 is a bad AMM/MAF.

I'd say there is a major voltage issue. If the voltage is bouncing between 8 and 12 volts when the car is running, either the alternator isn't working at all, or something is pulling LOTs of electrical power. 8 volts is too low for the fuel injection to work properly. The battery should be able to source enough current to keep the voltage higher - so this question-
Where are you measuring the voltage? On the battery? Or are you looking at the dash display? If it's on the battery, you've got bad grounds somewhere. If it is the voltage display, ignore it and use a meter on the battery.
