When the new compressor was installed, did they flush and recharge the AC?
If you're barely getting any AC, then the air retains too much moisture and you get the misting problem you're describing. A leaking heater core wouldn't cause this except localized at the windshield.
There could be a problem elsewhere in the AC system, or perhaps they didn't replace the receiver/dryer when they did the compressor. This part is responsible for removing moisture from the AC refrigerant, which cannot function well with water in it. It can freeze on the expansion valve, preventing the refigerant from entering the evaporator core, where interior air cooling takes place.
