I have a 1993 Aero with the ACC2 style "brain". At first, I thought that I had a bad temp sensor, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. I've done a search, but I wanted to get some input first.
My ACC unit thinks its warm inside the car no matter what. Unless I set it to "HI", it blows cool air through the dash vents (not the defrost or feet). Once it's turned to "HI" it changes to blowing hot air, and it's not consistent on where it sends it. Sometimes through the dash, and sometimes to the Defrost/Feet setting which is typically where it wants to blow warm air.
The fan speed controller was replaced about two years ago, but the fan speed is not easily adjusted. It seems to have about three setting ranges while manually pressing the +/- buttons. I can set it to a very low fan speed, a low fan speed, and a fairly hi fan speed. If I set it to auto and to some temperature below "HI", it blows even harder, and it blows cold.
To top off my confusion, I had the battery disconnected a couple weeks ago, and the whole ACC system worked fine for about a day. I've tried the calibration thing a couple times but it isn't doing anything.
So, I have a spare Cabin temp sensor, and I'll change that first, but if it doesn't fix things, I have two questions:
Can I use an ACC unit from other years of 9000? (eEuroparts has this to say about their replacement, leading me to believe in model-year specific P/Ns, as well as some which work for all: "NEW (not rebuilt) ACC control unit for ANY 90-94 9000 with ACC. Replaces p/ns 9630195, 8605396, 4071742, 7496813, and 7496326 Including models with RAC(rear a/c- extra RAC button included in this kit)."
Any quick tips on making removal as easy as possible? It looks like it might be pretty simple.
Thanks everyone.
