Also check out Quasi's site, specifically:
http://www.quasimotors.com/instrument_cluster.htm
You'll remove the dash top, and then lift up the instrument cluster. You don't have to remove the cluster, you can just lift it up enough to get to the bulbs.
A few things-
First, shine a flashlight on the display when the car is running. Hit the INFO button. You should see the display change. If it changes, just isn't back lit, then the problem is the light bulbs. If you don't see the display, then the EDU board is bad. I'd also expect you would have a problem with the gas gauge and the temp gauge, also, as the board drives them.
When you lift up the instrument cluster, there are a couple of little rubber feet on the bottom to prevent rattles. They will fall off - be aware, and grab them.
Follow the dash removal instructions CAREFULLY. There is always one extra screw you missed. If it doesn't come up, it's because you missed a screw.
DO NOT remove the glovebox door. You will hate yourself (don't ask how I know). To remove the glovebox, use a torx bit held with a pliers. The screws aren't in tight. You can fit a short torx bit in the space between the open glovebox door at the bottom and the screws.
When you take the glovebox out, please note that there is a light and wires.
