Here's an update on my clutch problem. I've been posting about it for the last 10 months,
The symptom is that the clutch pedal does not come back up. Last January (?) I replaced the clutch master cylinder with the Lockheed from Eeuroparts. A month ago, the clutch pedal would not come up, so I bleed the system with the bike tire method and it worked until a week ago, when the clutch pedal would not come up. By then, I had sent for another clutch master cylinder and the brake bleeder tool from Eeurope. I replaced the master cylinder and bled the system. It was good for a few days, and then the pedal would not come up and it wouldn't go into gear. I bled the system again. It didn't help. Then, with a helper pumping the clutch pedal, I put my hand on the clutch hose under the battery and brake fluid was just shooting out. It was also all over the driveway where I was bleeding the system.
I ordered the part, called a "clutch hose." from Eeurope Parts. I was pleased to see they could get it to me, even though it is not part of there standard inventory.
I could have used the "aeroguy" fix of buying a piece of "high temperature Aeroquip ID teflon 3/16 hose," but I live in a pretty isolated area and I just didn't have the motivation to hunt around for it. For $50.00, what the clutch hose cost from Eeurope Parts, I'd rather just wait for it to come. It will take about 10 days.
In conclusion, since the fluid was shooting out of the flex hose under the battery, I am assuming that there was a small hole in the flex hose that let in a little bit of air, and every time I fooled with the clutch master cylinder I expelled the air. This made me think the fix was with the master cylinder. I may have bought and installed two of them for nothing.
I'm not upset, just relieved that I may have solved the problem and am on my way to fixing it.
Moral of the story: check the flexible clutch hose very carefully if the clutch pedal fails to come up. It may be the slave or the master, but it also might be the clutch hose. By the way, there are quite a few posts about failure of the clutch hose. I still wonder how I might have found the tiny hole months ago.
