I have a '94 Aero 5spd that is non-TCS.
According to my Indy tech, the '94 Aero's (non-TCS) performance can be tweaked more without upsetting the ECU. It's a simpler system than the later trionics, and thus allows greater tweaking before getting out of sorts.
My '94 Aero is an early production run (serial #425), and has the locking center console. I do miss the glove box, but none of the later models have this either. I don't particularly care about the wood dash, but if I did, I could just pilfer one from another 9000 in a junk yard somewhere or find the needed bits online. Allthough my car has an aftermarket Alpine system, if the car came with no alarm at all, I could have easily and relatively cheaply had one put in (with remote start to boot).
As for the stereo, I'm not an audiophile, and I'm not sure I'd notice the difference between the Clarion and the HK. All in all, from '94 on forward, I'd take mileage, condition, and price into consideration long before I worried about what was installed in one of the DIN slots.
I got my Aero a few months ago, and couldn't be happier with it. For me, the combination of price point, mileage, and condition were the most important. Specifically, I was looking for a 5-speed Aero, '94 or newer, with around 150k miles or less, with the maximum in condition (no accidents, rust, mechanical issues) for the minimum cost.
Everything else (factory alarms, wood dash, stereo system) didn't factor into the decision to buy or not to buy. If the car had them, great. If not, no big deal.
