dards. Strength wise, the b234 is a beast. They just said it wasn't budgeted as well as it should have been. You can see this in the exhaust, and intake piping. The rest of the motor is spec'ed higher than most HIGH perfomance cars(i'd take on over a 4g63 any day) but then you get the same charge pipes as the 175hp 2.0t 9000s, and an awful downpipe, and a cat that bakes the tranny fluid. There are other GM influences, but the 9000 seems very solid overall compared to the ng900s and ESPECIALLY 9-5s. We've put 100k on ours, and they were some of the hardest miles I've ever seen on a car. If it wasn't a fully loaded 6 hour each way trip, thru salt and freezing temps to canada, it was an hour of complete thrashing thru back roads on the way to Lime Rock, or a 15 minute jaunt into my mom's inner city school everyday. I'll take a 9000 over an older saab any day in terms of specification and finish, corrosion and weather protection, I've just heard they built them a little less carefully. And that was seen with most manufacturers durign the 90's so I believed it. Would you say they're better built? They did showcase it more.
And I do plan on some performance, just maxxing out the stock TD04, so at most ~300whp
