There is no adjustment Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Thu, 6 Dec 2007 14:36:30 In Reply to: How is mixture control done at idle?, Simon Barber, Wed, 5 Dec 2007 15:20:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There is no manual adjustment for mixture on the LH2.4.2 system. The ECU handles all of that. The nominal is 0.5 volts, but the system varies the mixture around that value for proper operation of the catalytic converter.
Something to understand about an O2 sensor. It is VERY sensitive to the stochiometric (proper) mixture. So 0.5 volts is theoretically the perfect stiochiometric ratio. 0.6 is very so slightly off, as is 0.4. 0.9 and 0.1 volts are also very, very slightly off. It's just that the sensor only goes between 0.9 and 0.1 (or so), so 0.9 can be slightly off, or way, way off. Think of the O2 sensor as a strong magnifying glass fixed over a yardstick. You know a lot about 24.3 inches, give or take a quarter of an inch - anything else is out of view.
Bottom line - your car is just fine. You have no adjustment to make. And basically, if the O2 sensor isn't bouncing against 0.9 or 0.1 (or stuck at one of those values), then the engine control is controlling mixture just fine.
