...unless your complaint is that it shifts into higher gears early.
Your symptoms sound a lot more like the accumulator spring. It's possible to DIY this repair, and the procedure is somewhere in the archives.
Similarly cheap as governor seals but requiring much more care to keep things clean.
Don't put any additives in your transmission.
