I made notes to myself for future reference after I removed my ashtray (to replace the light bulb) about two weeks ago. If I had to do it again, I would try leaving the ashtray in place and going after the bulb through the radio opening, because the radio is easier to remove.

Here are the notes. Good luck!

The Ash Tray Housing is part # 9778226, and the tray itself is part # 9778200. There is a clip at the top center of the tray you can depresss to release the tray from the housing. To remove the housing, first remove the tray and the upper stowage bin. The housing is metal on top and plastic elsewhere. It has two metal clips on top, one plastic clip centered on the left side, and two integrated plastic clips on the bottom. The bottom right clip is 1-1/2" from the right edge. The other bottom clip is 4" from the right edge - almost in the dead center of the housing. On the right side, use a small screwdriver to depress the top clip while pushing up and out at the bottom right. Slide housing our far enough that the right side clips can't re-engage. Repeat this procedure to release the top left clip and bottom center clip. It might be easier to remove both the radio and the upper stowage bin to make the ash tray housing more accessible. It might also be possible to remove the radio to gain access to the little bulb that illuminates the ashtray and cigarette lighter. The light fixture and cigarette lighter harnesses disconnect easily. To replace, connect the light fixture and cigarette lighter harness. Slide in the housing until all clips engage. Push in the tray.
