LH versus Trionic Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Ari, list of things done..., 92saaber, Mon, 14 Jan 2008 09:48:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Since the car you're looking at is a '92, it has the LH 2.4.2 system. My no-start test is for the later Trionic system. Some similarities, but a lot of differences. The LH system has fewer diagnostics, but it's easier to get to the fault codes.
I don't have my LH troubleshooting book with me right now. But to test the CPS, one way would be to monitor the voltage on pin 1 of the LH computer. It should be about 6.5 volts with the engine cranking, and 8 volts or more at idle. There may be another way - I'll check this evening.
You can read out the fault codes. Check the FAQ (http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/faq/lhoverview.html) on the LH. You can read out the codes easily in that year. Don't assume that a fault indication means you replace the part it points to. It's just a start.
