uprated (9-5) oil pump in B234? Posted by jdlincoln [Email] (#640) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jdlincoln) on Mon, 4 Feb 2008 14:14:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My indy says the timing cover is worn enough that we don't have enough oil pressure at idle. This is on a freshly rebuilt B-234. Has been started, but not driven yet. We replaced the pump gears and the outer cover, but no luck. He wants to install the cover and pump from a salvage B-235? which is in good shape to save me the purchase of a timing cover for the B-234. He says the later pumps are much more robust( and it looks it)Say's he's done it before with good luck. BUT, somewhere I seem to remember a posting, or it may have been in Nines, that there were/are problems with the later model pumps.
Can someone clarify, or send me in the right direction for a post on this? I've searched the 9K and 9-5 boards to no avail. Gonna get done tomorrow so need advice tonight.
Thanks,
JD
