I've decided to do the motor mounts.
My front lower mount is strange:
I pulled the front lower mount out and the plate that is on the top just pulls right off.
The rear mount does not do that. While the rear mount was in the car, but engine lifted off of it, I tried to pull off the top plate, but it stayed on. It seems to be the same style as the front mount. There are no screws holding the plate on or anything.
I had thought my font mount was bad, but it seems ok. I tried bending it around and seeing if it was separating at the bottom, it isnt. The rubber is not brand new, but it's not trash either. I'm thinking of adding some AC hose (Townsend Mod) and put the old one in. That way I don't have to use my new solid rubber mount. That brings me to my question: is my front mount bad because the plate lifts off of it?
So the ultimate question is:
Should I replace my front lower mount with my new rubber one, which has had the Townsend mod done to it. Or should I just Townsend mod my OEM mount and have a nice hydro mount with no extra vibrations.
Then comes my lower rear mount. I havn't taken it out. It is not torn and the rubber seems to be in good shape. I also have a new one of those that is full rubber and not hydro.
I do need the bushing by the alt replaced as mine is tearing. I have a poly for it.
The other bushing on the torque arm by the firewall is just barely starting to crack, which will form a tear soon. I don't have a replacement for it, if I were to replace it someday it would be rubber not poly.
What do you guys think/suggest?
